Why Choose Text2 Zip Online?
Extracting or compressing files shouldn't put your sensitive data at risk. Most traditional "online zip converters" force you to upload your personal photos, legal contracts, or confidential source code to their remote cloud servers, where they may be stored, analyzed, or throttled by restrictive file size limits.
Text2 Zip reimagines file archiving with modern web standards. By combining WebAssembly (WASM), Web Workers, and the Origin Private File System (OPFS), all compression and decompression happen directly on your local device's hardware. Zero bytes leave your computer. You get desktop-grade performance, rich file previews, folder hierarchy preservation, and complete peace of mind.
Cutting-Edge Features
100% Serverless & Zero Uploads
Your files are never transmitted across the network. All data processing is strictly client-side, making it ideal for HIPAA, GDPR, enterprise privacy, and sensitive personal archives.
Multi-Threaded Web Workers
Utilizes modern multi-threading and WebAssembly streams to compress or decompress dozens of files in parallel without freezing your browser interface.
OPFS Sandbox for Gigabyte Files
Employs the Origin Private File System (OPFS) to stream massive multi-gigabyte archives directly onto your local disk sandbox, avoiding out-of-memory browser crashes.
Built-in Multi-Format File Previewer
Inspect photos, play audio and video clips, read PDF documents, and review source code files directly inside the extracted archive before downloading.
Full Folder Hierarchy Support
Drag and drop entire nested directory structures or projects. Text2 Zip preserves all folder paths, subfolders, and relative paths accurately.
Direct-to-Disk Folder Extraction
Supported browsers (Chrome, Edge) can write all extracted files directly to your computer's folder of choice using the FileSystem Access API with one click.
How to Use Text2 Zip (Step-by-Step)
1 Choose Mode: Create Zip or Extract Zip
Use the top tab switcher to select whether you want to Create Zip (compress local files or folders into a .zip archive) or Extract Zip (decompress and inspect an existing .zip file).
2 Import Files or Entire Folders
Click the drop area or drag and drop your items. You can choose to upload single/multiple files or select Folder to preserve an entire folder hierarchy with subdirectories.
3 Preview and Inspect Any File
Click on any file card in your queue or extracted list to open the full-screen Preview Modal. You can view high-resolution photos, stream video and audio tracks, render PDFs, or review syntax-formatted code files without needing third-party desktop viewers.
4 Monitor Real-Time Speed & Processing Logs
During compression or extraction, the progress overlay tracks total throughput speed (MB/s), ETA countdown, and logs every file operation in real time.
5 Download or Save Direct to Local Disk
In Create mode, customize your archive name and click Download Archive. In Extract mode, you can download individual files, or click Save Folder to write the entire uncompressed tree directly into a directory on your machine.
